Vorm van gedragstherapie ontwikkeld in de jaren 1970 voor de behandeling van depressie, vertrekt zij van de vaststelling dat depressieve mensen gedragingen vertonen die hen in die toestand houden. Door functionele analyse vermindert ze vermijding en betrekt ze de patiënt bij belonende activiteiten. De belangrijkste indicatie is unipolaire majeure depressie.
