Dramatherapy and Psychodrama

FR
DP

Dramatherapy and psychodrama share the conviction that the staging of the self holds a transformative power. Morenian psychodrama proposes to re-enact suffering on stage in order to transform it, with its grammar of action (protagonist, auxiliary ego, double, mirror, role reversal) and its circular stage. The practice is organized around four principles: role-play, the here-and-now, spontaneity and encounter. British dramatherapy (Slade, Jennings) develops from spontaneous dramatic play, distinct from formal theatre; the field notably covers personality disorders.
